Adams Tarleine Skin Care Ointment -- Claims to have been in use over a century for treating psoriasis and eczema. Trademarked in 1957. Made from pine tar and zinc oxide.
Ageless Herbal Products -- Miracle wound healing and skin cures are some of the claims to be found at this South African site. The US FDA does not approve herbal remedies as stated at the site. Any products which make disease treatment claims become FDA classified as drugs, requiring full safety testing and registration to be legally marketed.
Blue Lagoon Psoriasis Clinic -- This unique public spa is located near Reykjavik, Iceland. A new clinic and conference center opened in July 1999. Indoor pools and steam caves now offer a quiet refuge from the nearby geothermal power plant. The site also carries a line of skin care products.
Clay from Acticells -- Dubious "facts" are presented at this site. Claims of a cure or permanent relief from psoriasis need to be substantiated. No other members of a "Psoriasis Online Association" could be found.
Dave''s Psoriasis Info - Treatment Reviews -- Well researched reviews and fair ratings of conventional and alternative psoriasis treatments found on the net.
Dermac Labs - Mink Oil skin care products -- A money back guarantee is nice, but psoriasis treatment claims require FDA approval.
Dermazinc distributor - Sanavita -- This former Skin-Cap distributor is now making the same claims for Zinc Pyrithione. ZnP was removed from the FDA list of approved psoriasis treatments in 1991 for lack of any evidence of it being effective. Dermazinc is an attempt to clone the banned Skin-Cap by adding prescription steroids. Recent studies have shown that Znp alone is ineffective. See the Skin-Cap FAQ. Orginal submission: "Amazing Psoriasis Treatment: Zinc Pyrithione X Psoriasis - Psoriasis treatment with Zinc Pyrithione Spray is easy and very effective. If you have Psoriasis, you will be amazed with the results against Psoriasis symptoms."
Don Sipler''s Vitamin B12 and Folic acid regimen -- Many people have gotten benefit from this freely described and relatively safe method. The unfortunate "Psoriasis Cure?" title of the page raises red flags, but Don isn''t selling anything, or asking for any money. Check the newsgroup archives for history, dosages, testimonials, and tips.
Dr. J.R.K''s Siddha Research & Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. -- Indian Pharmaceutical company manufacturing, marketing effective & safe herbal products for PSORIASIS, VITILIGO and any other skin aliments.
Gerovital GH3 -- Promoted for years by the company as a rejuvenating cure-all, these products contain procaine hydrochloride, a local anesthetic well known as Novacaine. Gerovital products have been banned in the US since 1982 after being deemed a postal fraud in 1981. Search on "Gerovital" at the US FDA or Government health sites for more details and warnings.
HealthlinkUSA - psoriasis bookmarks -- A commercialized rehash of search engine results. No new content beyond popup Java window and banner ads. The site has repeatedly spammed Usenet with fraudulent "look what I found" promotions of their pages despite numerous complaints. Search for "healthlinkusa" to see hundreds of entries here.
Ken Kessler - Using Topical Nystatin -- The actual method of treatment is not mentioned at the site, only clues about yeast. Payment of $40 brings an email that describes how to mix nystatin, a prescription antifungal, with vaseline. [See the Psoriasis Hall of PShame for complete details]
Neutrogena T/Gel Shampoo products -- Neutrogena makes a line of coal tar, salicylic acid, and hyrocortisone shampoo products for nonprescription treatment of scalp flaking and itching.
New TCM from China for psoriasis -- "Specialized in natrual herb therapies for psoriasis, bone and pain diseases, healthcare etc." -- This site offers a strange mix of TCM descriptions of psoriasis and diagnosis by the color of the fur on your tongue. The treatment offered is psoralen pills (Rx in western medicine) and UVA lamps. No ingredients listed, only minimal warnings of the considerable PUVA risks.
Primaderm products for psoriasis and other dry skin conditions -- Primaderm products with the plant extract Mahonia aquifoluim have been proven over 80% effective in the treatment psoriasis and other dry skin conditions.
PsoriaLess.com and Psoriasis-Cure.com -- Info about a treatment spa in France along with the foam and ointment products that they use. Beware of misleading information about coal tar, systemic drugs, and tryptophan (debunked three decades ago). No ingredients listed at the site, only by email subscription. A Cure is yet to be found.
Psoriaseek -- Another categorized and searchable bookmark collection by Loobie. This one has no human reviews or additional content beyond banner ads and a guestbook. Many broken links.
Psoriasis Hall of PShame -- A critical review of psoriasis treatment promotions.
Rick Yeager''s Psoriatic Arthritis Treatment -- Info and testimonials about using prescription nystatin as an alternative treatment for psoriasis. (Search the newsgroup archives for responses to his controversial and inaccurate claims.)
Skin-Cap FAQ -- Skin-Cap was banned in 1997 for containing unlisted superpotent corticosteroids at prescription levels. The cans show zinc pyrithione as the active ingredient, but that is probably just a ruse. Many zinc "clone" products have appeared, trying to cash in on the popularity of this now black-market product. Steroids are a standard treatment and can be very effective for a quick fix, but problems with long term use can include severe rebound if the treatment is stopped.
