Surf these sites: Arctic LTER -- Arctic Long Term Ecological Research Site. Field research of the Arctic LTER is based at Toolik Lake, Alaska, in the northern foothills of the Brooks Range. Project is centered at the Ecosystems Center of the Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Costa Rican Long Term Ecological Research Network -- 5 important environmentally sensitive areas chosen as sites to study in the hope of promoting and enhancing the understanding of long-term ecological phenomena. Coweeta Watershed, North Carolina -- Part of the NSF LTER network; has been the site of ecological research since the 1930s. The mission of the Research Work Unit (RWU) at Coweeta is to evaluate, explain, and predict how water, soil, and forest resources respond to management practices, natural disturbances, and the atmospheric environment; and to identify practices that mitigate impacts on these watershed resources. Ecological Monitoring and Assessment Network (EMAN) -- National network of monitoring and research sites characterized by long term, multi-disciplinary studies. Environmental Change Network (ECN) Home Page -- The UK''s integrated long-term environmental monitoring network. The site contains information on the network, summary data and real-time access to our weather station at Moor House NNR. Konza Prairie -- The Konza Prairie Research Natural Area (KPRNA), an LTER site, is representative of native tallgrass prairie in the Flint Hills of eastern Kansas. Website has information about the prairie and ongoing research there. Long Term Ecological Research at Cedar Creek, Minnesota -- Cedar Creek Natural History Area lies near the confluence of three great biomes of North America, the deciduous forest reaching east to the Atlantic and south to the Gulf, the boreal forest growing north to Hudson''s Bay, and the prairie stretching westward to the Rockies. It thus provides a central location to investigate their ecology. Long-term Forest Ecosystem Research - introducing LWF -- The mission of the LWF is to improve the understanding of forest ecosystem processes through the long-term study of selected forest plots in Switzerland. A particular emphasis is the possible effects of air pollution and climate change on forest ecosystem processes. Shortgrass Steppe Long Term Ecological Research Site -- Research is housed at the College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University. Our research is conducted on the Central Plains Experimental Range (administered by the USDA-Agricultural Research Service) and the Pawnee National Grasslands. U.S. Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) Network -- NSF network of 21 sites used for long-term ecological studies to investigate ecological processes operating at long time scales and over broad spatial scales. The LTER network promotes synthesis and comparative research across sites and ecosystems. Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center -- Established in 1986 as a center for ecological monitoring and analysis, the Center manages the Long Term Resource Monitoring Program which is the largest river-related inventory and monitoring program in the United States. Virginia Coast Reserve LTER -- The Virginia Coast Reserve Long-Term Ecological Research Project (VCR/LTER) focuses on understanding the ecosystems and dynamics of the barrier island/lagoon/marsh system on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The site includes support materials for researchers including data, images, publication lists, and full-text documents. It is part of the NSF-funded U.S. LTER Network. Virginia Coast Reserve Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) Home Page -- Understanding the ecology of a barrier island/lagoon ecosystem. Includes data, images and text used to support this project.
